fun with kites

This past Saturday Kelly and Gavin headed down to the city to hang out. We walked over to the lake at Montrose where they had kite flying going on. First we stopped at Subway to pick up lunch to make a picnic out of it.

Bryan helping get Gavin's kite ready to fly.

"Look mom!"
He was doing it all by himself and he was very proud!

Kaitlin wanted to help fly the kite.
And then she was eating it...

Gavin is helping out giving Kaitlin her bath.

Kaitlin is all ready for bed.

hanging with will

Ruth took some photos of the Will and Kaitlin last Friday.
I love how Will is wearing his bib more like a cape!

6 months old

Kaitlin’s 6 month doctor appointment is next Monday. So I’ll post her height and weight after we go. In general Kaitlin is more active and is curious about everything. These days most things end up in her mouth.

SLEEP:
We made some improvement in the sleep area this month! She started to sleep through (most) of the night. On a good night she’ll go down around 6:30 pm and get up at 4:00 am to eat. She’ll go right back down until 5:30-6:30 am. On a bad night she’ll wake up 2x to eat. Very rarely does she wake up because her pacifier fell out (which was a big problem early on). She has pretty much been only taking 2 naps per day (sometimes they are only about a hour though). We really haven’t let her fully cry it out (CIO) yet. Normally when she gets so worked up, we pop the paci in and she’s out immediately.

FOOD:

She’s eating solids 2x per day and takes 4-5 oz of formula at each bottle feeding (approx 25 oz per day).
- Mornings - cereal/oatmeal mixed with fruit
- Afternoon – cereal/oatmeal mixed with veggie
Recently she’s been eating the entire stage 1 jar of solids. I think we’ll move to stage 2 soon.

MILESTONES:
- Still pushes up to her hands and is trying so hard to crawl (sometimes she can get onto her knees)
- Can roll over in both directions (she doesn’t barrel roll yet)
- She rolls and scoots as her method of getting to things. She can also rotate on her tummy.

- Sits unsupported for up to 10 minutes at a time
- Plays independently very well (she will play in her crib for 20 minutes or so after she wakes up)
- Everything goes into her mouth
- Great at grabbing items from your hand and transferring between hands. Can pick alternatively with either hand.
- She loves the jumparoo (which we just broke out), her Laugh and Learn Puppy and her laptop toy
- Loves being outside and soaks in everything
- No signs of teeth

You don't understand how much she really wanted to play with Minnie. She kept grabbing Minnie each time I picked up the camera.
I was dropping her off with Ruth this morning.

solids

Kaitlin has been eating solids 1-2x per day. Mornings she'll have cereal or oatmeal with fruit and around lunch time/early afternoon she'll have cereal or oatmeal with a veggie. Most of the time she isn't thrilled to be eating solids. Sometimes she'll get real into after 5 minutes or so. The picture below is proof!

As of today, Kaitlin has eaten pears, sweet potatoes (her favorite), peas, carrots and squash. I also wanted to mention we weighed Kaitlin at Bryan's parents house on Easter and she was 14.2 lbs!

easter weekend - bridal shower & babies!

Okay I've been slacking on uploading photos the last few weeks. On Easter weekend we packed up and headed to Iowa. One of my best friends had her bridal shower that weekend and another best friend had her baby 7 days prior. It was really fun to get all of "mommy's ladies" together, babies included!

Mommy's ladies and babies

Kaitlin and Max hanging out.
Max is 3 and Colton is 7 months and Max only weighs 4 pounds more than Colton!
Drake Robert is the newest addition to our extending family. He's 7 days old in this photo. He was born at 8 lbs 10 oz. He seemed so tiny. It was hard to believe that Kaitlin was smaller than that when she was born at 6 lbs 13 oz!
Kaitlin reaching for Colton to give him a kiss!
I think she wants to hold his hand here.
Now they are like "MOM get me outta here!"
Look at those eyes!

Brian, Breanne & Drake.
It's hard to believe that Kaitlin and Colton are only about 6 weeks apart.

And of course the ladies at Kenzie's shower!

enjoying the warm weather

The past week or so has been nice enough to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. It's days like these where I'm jealous that Ruth gets to take the kids to the park to play.

Here's a picture of Bryan and Kaitlin. We walked over to the lake earlier this week. The wind made it a little chilly but Kaitlin enjoys being outside (and lets you know with her squeals).

After work yesterday I met up with Ruth & Kaitlin at the park.
