Also these photos really show off Kaitlin's crazy hair! I think we need to start applying some hair product to get it to look decent;-)

ohio fun
Kaitlin was sorta fussy on the drive out but did much better on the way home. I ended up getting acquainted with sitting in the backseat with her.
A big thank you to family in Ohio for making it such a fun trip! Can't wait to see everyone again.

7 months
We can't believe how big our little girl is getting!
SLEEP:
Not much has changed with sleep. She still has been waking up around 5/5:30 am every morning. We tried moving her bedtime back a little later (from 6:30 pm to 7:30/8) but she still wakes up at 5/5:30 am. Sometimes she will sleep through the night and other nights she will still wake 1x to eat.
FOOD:
She’s still eating solids 2x per day. We have moved on to stage 2 foods and we’re introducing a lot of mixed veggies and fruits. We will probably wait to add a “dinner” solid feeding.
I even tried giving Kaitlin a smashed piece of banana and she gagged. I guess she’s not quite ready for chunks yet. We also have started giving her puffs that dissolve in her mouth. She does okay with them. She’s not quite sure what to do with them right away when she picks them up herself (they don’t go directly into her mouth) and isn’t sure about them right away if we put them in her mouth.
We also introduced yogurt last week. Again she wasn’t sure about the texture.
Kaitlin was really fascinated when we would drink and she loves to drink from our glass – which is fine when we have water but not so great when she wants our coffee, soda, or beer! But we gave her a sippy cup with water in it and she totally “gets” it. The cup needs to be pretty full in order for her to get any water out of it (she can’t tip it back far enough if it’s not full enough).
CLOTHING:
Kaitlin is in between sizes now. Most of her 3-6 month stuff still fits (some stuff is too short for her) and she can also fit into most of her 6-9 months stuff (and some stuff is too big in the waist and falls off). She’s still wearing size 2 pampers (size 3 Huggie overnight diapers).
MILESTONES:
- Started rocking on all fours
- About a week later she started crawling
- She can move from sitting to crawling and (sometimes) back to sitting
- She pulled herself to a stand while in her crib (we immediately dropped her crib mattress)
- If you put our your hands/fingers/thumbs Kaitlin will pull herself to a stand and then walk towards you
- She’s trying so hard to pull herself to a stand by herself on all the furniture (including in her crib now that the mattress has been lowered)
- She has started to pick up items with her finger and thumb
- Babbling hasn’t changed much but there are still lots of squealing & squawking
- Loves to bang her toys against things
- Still no signs of teeth

a few more firsts

On Sunday, 5/23, at 6.5 months Kaitlin surprised us and took a few "steps" forward crawling. We thought it was a fluke and it would still be a few weeks before she really got the hang of it and started moving around. Nope. She's really caught on these last few days. She's still a bit wobbly but she can really get herself from point A to point B pretty well.
She really likes to crawl toward me, use my hands to pull herself up to stand, and then walk the rest of the way toward me.

We finally broke out the 6 months+ toys. Here's a video of Will and Kaitlin playing with them this morning.
Disclaimer: you'll probably being seeing more video since we finally got a video camera.
