airplane

Last night I got home from work and was playing with Kaitlin. We were playing airplane (you know when you hold the baby high over your head). She decided to vomit. I saw it coming (all in slow motion). The only thing I could do was turn my head to it wouldn't land on my face. Well it ended up in my hair and INSIDE my ear. EWE! Let's just say that I took an early shower last night. Bryan wishes he had it on video and well...I'm glad he didn't have the camera handy. Oh the joys of parenting!

great grandma lamar's birthday weekend

This past weekend we packed up the SUV and headed to Iowa for my grandma's (Kaitlin's great-grandma) 75th birthday. Bryan was out of town that whole week in California and he was flying into Moline on Friday night. That meant that I had to dive to Iowa with Kaitlin by myself. Knowing it was going to be a long week doing everything by myself, I asked to stay at Bob/Jan's (Bryan's parent's) place on Thursday night since it would shave off almost a hour off my drive on Friday. I must have timed my drive well because Kaitlin slept the entire ride out.

Kaitlin passed out before we even left for great grandma's party.

I have to admit I had a fun time dressing her!
We went to brunch the next day at the Iowa Machine Shed (a restaurant
dedicated to the American Farmer). Yummy! I think this
is Bryan's new favorite place when we go to see my parents.
Look at the size of that cinnamon roll! It fed all six of us and we all had seconds!
Gavin trying to share his balloon.
Silly Aunt Kelly striking a pose.
Kaitlin is really into grabbing onto toys. Look at that cute pouty face! Gavin was helping her figure out all the
toys on the tray. Kaitlin's feet were about 6 inches from the ground.

we like pampers

This past weekend we were in Iowa. I needed to get some more diapers so I stopped at Hy-Vee (the grocery store there). I saw that the Hy-Vee brand diapers were 12-cents per diaper verses that Pampers that were 24-cents per diaper. So I thought I'd try out the Hy-Vee brand for half the price. Well here's the result of the first diaper I put on Kaitlin:

Yep that was a massive blow out. She went through the diaper, her onsie and onto her jeans! We had the same thing happen with the Huggies diapers. I think from now on, I'll be sticking with what we know...which are Pampers. And Kaitlin got a bath right after we took this photo.

but i don't want to nap

When I got home from work yesterday Kaitlin was tired so I laid her down for a nap. A few minutes later I heard her talking through the monitor. I came back in to find her having a full conversation with her mobile.

got clothes?

A girl can never have too many clothes can she? The top rack
alone are things that fit Kaitlin now (0-3 and 3-6 months).
She's in between these sizes. The bottom rack
are 6 months and bigger. We've been blessed by generous
friends and family that have gotten Kaitlin most of these
clothes. I have to say I have fun dressing her!

Also there's a bin on the floor that you can't see here (it's next to the car seat box) with the newborn and some 0-3 month stuff that is too small for her.

i miss daddy already

Bryan left today for California for work. So I'm a single mom until Friday. Bryan will be flying directly into Moline on Friday night and I will drive to Iowa with Kaitlin and meet him there.

Here's a video of Kaitlin from this afternoon. She's talking, laughing and eating her hands (which seem to be her latest hobby). Later this week she will get to talk to daddy via Skype!

After I taped this clip, I showed it to Kaitlin. She must have thought she was funny because she was laughing and smiling at the screen.

play date

Since today was a holiday, Kaitlin & I and Megan & Will headed over to have a play date with Mandy & Ava. Kaitlin was either crabby or tired. So I didn't really take any pictures. And when I did have my camera out Will was sleeping.

Kaitlin is about the same height as Ava. It's hard
to tell in this picture since Kaitlin is crying and Ava
is looking down at Kaitlin's pacifier.

I figured I'd see how Kaitlin liked the excersaucer. I think she
was overwhelmed at first and then freaked out. But she
was big and strong enough to stand up in it by herself.
I think we will have to put together ours soon.
